The Yogini from Manila

the yoga scene in the Philippines & all else yoga….

A Rare Treat

Two of my good yogi friends and I met up for lunch the other day at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL) Megamall.

Chona is now a professor teaching Research Methods.  Jon teaches almost full-time at Yoga Manila. I, on the other hand, was busy preparing for my kids’ vacation to the province, the house repairs, and other preparations for enrolment time. All busybodies whose schedules are very difficult to coordinate!

Fortunately, Chona and Jon were both available that day and providentially, I had a CBTL gift certificate about to expire. Great combination for bonding and eating, haha.

When 3 free spirits get together, anything goes. Our conversations hopped from yoga classes to poring over yoga pictures in a book and giving them thumbs up or down to plans for the wedding of our friend yogini to even some inane stuff. Free expression and laughter were the order of the day. If this is what busybodies call wasting time, I will gladly “waste” time again.

Here are pics of our lunch date. When can we do this again, Chona/Jon?

  3. hi jane :)

i started doing yoga 4 weeks ago on a 4x a week basis already. but since i have limited funds i bought the yoga zone series by alan finger and the gaiam series by rodney yee and suzanne deason.

i thought that yoga would be a great alternative to the fast paced cardio videos i also tried because i want to lose weight for bikini season, since im on the flabby side :) but i realised that yoga brought me so much more benefits. i look forward to doing it :) people have been telling me i look better and brighter now. the weight loss goal is really second priority now :P i just want to delve in yoga.

it’s refreshing to know that someone like you takes a great interest in the practice :) it is really admirable.

would you happen to know where i can buy affordable yoga props like bricks, blankets and pillows here in makati? i live in the baranggay near rockwell (poblacion) and i tried looking for the yoga kits in powerplant mall. but they only sell pilates stuff and dvds there. they have yoga apparel and straps but no bricks. help! :D

    thank you :D

  4. Wow, a new blog. It was a pleasure finally meeting you. Sayang the other guests pulled me away to ask for my views. I hope we could meet up again to chat. You look great and I’m glad you’re better now. Take care, sis.

@Schumey – Bro, I emailed you back already. I would love another chance for a chat. :-)
